LARURAL
Brothers Andreu and Xavi Padró launched LaRural in 2018, making their first wines in the basement of their family home in Santes Creus, Tarragona. After generations of farming grapes, they decided to bottle their own, focused on fresh, light, sulfur-free wines inspired by Catalunya’s natural wine movement.
THE WINE
Andreu Padró and Xavi Padró
LaRural began in 2018 when brothers Andreu and Xavi Padró decided to start making wine in the basement of their family home in Santes Creus, Tarragona. Their family had been farming grapes and other crops on their organically certified land in Alt Camp for four generations, but until then had never bottled their own wine.
Inspired by the vibrant natural wine scene in Catalunya, the brothers left their careers in architecture and mechanics to focus on making the kind of wines they loved to drink—fresh, light, and made without added sulfur. After briefly working with an enologist, they chose a more intuitive path, learning from producers they admire like Oriol Artigas and Laureano Serres.
Today, they work with stainless steel tanks, a few barrels, and gentle, infusion-style macerations to keep the wines vibrant and expressive.
The name LaRural reflects their deep connection to the countryside—and also honors their mother, who cared for the family vineyards long before Andreu and Xavi took over.
