CLOS FANTINE

Clos Fantine is a family-run winery in the hills of Faugères, led by siblings Caroline, Olivier, and Corine Andrieu. Farming organically and encouraging biodiversity, they work old vines on schist soils in a lively, natural ecosystem.

In the cellar, native yeasts and minimal intervention guide the wines, resulting in expressive, evolving cuvées.

Clos Fantine is a small family domaine located in the windy hills above Cabrerolles, in the Faugères appellation of the Languedoc. Surrounded by wildflowers, schist soils, and old vines, the landscape is both rugged and full of life.

The estate is run by siblings Caroline, Olivier, and Corine Andrieu, who took over from their father and continue to live and work in the family home. The property spans around 30 hectares, with about 9 hectares of vines planted to traditional varieties such as Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Terret Blanc and Gris, and old Aramon vines dating back to 1915.

The vineyards are farmed organically, with a strong focus on biodiversity. Vines are grown as bush vines, better suited to the windy, sun-exposed slopes, and the soils are left unplowed to encourage natural vegetation, with sheep grazing in winter to maintain balance.

In the cellar, fermentations rely on native yeasts and intervention is kept to a minimum. Rather than using extraction techniques, the approach is gentle and patient, allowing each wine to develop naturally and maintain its complexity.

The result is a lineup of wines that are expressive, evolving, and deeply connected to their environment.
