EMILIE MUTOMBO

Emilie Mutombo discovered natural wine in Brussels before following her passion to Spain, where she now works in Bonastre. After apprenticing with Partida Creus, she launched her own project, producing small quantities of expressive, low-intervention wines.

Working closely with local varieties and her own vineyard plots, her wines reflect both place and a strong personal vision.

Emilie Mutombo’s path into wine began not in the vineyard, but in the bars of Brussels, where she first discovered natural wine. Working in events at the time, she became increasingly drawn to this growing movement, moving from casual tastings to wine fairs, and eventually to studying oenology and biodynamic farming.

Her early experience included time at Domaine du Chêne Bleu in Gigondas, where she was exposed to both biodynamic practices and more conventional winemaking. But a turning point came in 2017, when she met Massimo Marchiori of Partida Creus at the Les Anonymes wine salon. Inspired by the wines and the philosophy behind them, she relocated to Bonastre later that year to work closely with Massimo and Antonella Gerosa.

This period of apprenticeship deeply shaped her approach. The wines she produces today carry that influence, focused on energy, drinkability, and a strong sense of place.

Emilie began making her own wines in small quantities shortly after arriving in Bonastre, initially working with fruit sourced from Partida Creus. By 2020, she fully committed to her personal project, working out of a small cellar and farming her own plots in the surrounding area.

Today, she produces tiny quantities of wine from local grape varieties, with a careful, hands-on approach both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Her labels feature bold, abstract artwork created by her brother, Frédéric, adding another personal layer to the project.

Rooted in respect for the environment and local traditions, Emilie’s wines reflect a thoughtful, evolving practice shaped by experience, collaboration, and a deep connection to the natural wine community.
